Our Practitioner: Dr. Rosemarie Filart, MD, MPH is an Integrative Rehabilitation and Functional Medicine Specialist who has been a physician for over 20 years. Dr. Filart earned her Medical Degree and Masters in Public Health through a dual degree program at George Washington School of Medicine & Public Health. Following medical school, she received training in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) at Baylor College of Medicine, and in Primary Care Medicine at Yale School of Medicine. She has also completed specialty Fellowships from the Kessler Institute of Rehabilitation and the Academy of Integrative Health and Medicine.

Dr. Filart is board-certified in PM&R, Integrative Medicine, Brain Injury Medicine, and Spinal Cord Medicine, as well as, a Certified Functional Medicine Practitioner. She is affiliated with several medical systems including Medstar National Rehab Hospital, University of Maryland, and St. Mary’s Rehabilitation Hospital. To expand evidence-based health and medicine, and deepen community and science contributions, she has published in scientific journals and chapters in books. She has received multiple awards for her clinical care, team work, and research administration.

As a medical Specialist, Dr. Filart’s approach is non-narcotic, personalized, and whole-person view, recognizing that chronic conditions including pain is a complicated condition which often requires a multimodal treatment plan. She is experienced in minimally invasive treatments such as dry trigger point needling, acupuncture, microcurrent/electrical stimulation, spasticity botulinum toxin injections, migraine nerve injections, ultrasound-guided nerve blocks, trigger point injections, visco-supplementation arthritic joint injections, and other musculoskeletal injections. Dr. Filart’s patient-centered approach also incorporates important nutritional genomic factors with nutritional genomic testing and lifestyle factors such as nutrition, sleep, stress management, exercise/activity, and behavioral health.

When not working with patients, Dr. Filart enjoys sailing, kayaking, and other outdoor activities with family and friends. She volunteers for the American Red Cross, local health clinics, international charities, and international medical missions to provide care for the underserved.
